While there are many differences in technology and design of hearing aids available online, Eargo’s design, attention to the user’s experience, and customer support set us apart.
Eargo hearing aids and other hearing aids sold online, as well as most models you’ll find in a doctor’s office or a hearing aid retailer, are medical devices regulated by the FDA. While the FDA has exempted most hearing aid devices from premarket approval or clearance, our hearing aids remain subject to requirements for manufacturer registration and device listing, as well as FDA regulations on standards for performance, manufacturing, labeling, and safety.
Most other options sold online are PSAPs or general amplifiers that make everything louder, not clearer. PSAPs are not hearing aids and don’t have to meet the same standards.
